We love Rosa Alpina!
This place is so friendly, so cosy, so welcoming. The staff cannot do enough for
you. Everything feels taken care of and you're welcomed as if you're an old
friend of the owners (not that we met any). The fact this hotel is family run is
obvious and highlights the differences between corporate giants and people who
clearly love their business!The room we stayed in was of a very nice size, with nice views of the mountains, a good bathroom, very useful clothing room / walk in wardrobe (what a great idea!) and this great seating area - ready prepared with some Champagne and local cake. After a 5 hour drive, that was really appreciated :)
Walking round the hotel we found a superb swimming pool complex, hot tub, steam room, sauna, gym, some nice gardens, lovely lounge and great restaurant. There are attentive staff everywhere and everything looks in perfect order. Stepping outside the air is very pure and unpolluted, which probably also adds to the whole effect. We went up in the cable car and had a long walk down, stopping off at a local restaurant.
In the evening their Michelin starred restaurant was closed (regular closing day), which was fine as we'd done rather a lot of very fine dining so far that holiday! However they had a bar & grill next door which we used. That was far better than we expected though. In the morning the breakfast was a very nice experience with an awfully wide selection of food, staff eager to step in to bring you anything before you went and got it, and a chef waiting to prepare anything else you may require.
We found out that this hotel is fully booked (in August) for the New Year, but not only that, it's normally full for New Year by the previous January! That sort of repeat business says an awful lot.
This is a superb place and we will definitely be back - more than once! The website is excellent, describes the place perfectly.
