A incredible restaurant with a real personal touch!

Being highly recommended by a friend, the main reason for staying here was the food. What Obauer actually is is a restaurant with 10 hotel rooms, all furnished to a high standard. You could also say it's one of the best restaurants in Austria, but I think you'd be selling it short - one of the best in the world is probably more accurate!

Having 2 Michelin stars we were expecting great things, but not the friendly welcome from the owner that we received. They really did seem so pleased to see us! The room was large and spacious with an extremely funky bathroom and lovely views. We ventured out to see the ice caves - a unique and incredible sight with a great walk there, and then Werfen Castle where the film "Where Eagles Dare" was filmed.

The evening meal was simply the best I have ever eaten, anywhere. Not sure what I ate, but it made my tastebuds light up like I didn’t know they could! I'm not some pompous food critic, but all I know is this was truly amazing - with a capital 'A' :)

The next morning we found that breakfast was served in about the same style as dinner! The attention to detail here is stunning!

Obauer should be on your list of places to go before you die! It's that good. The hotel is more of a very high class B&B, but how could you go anywhere else after eating there...?! We shall be back - flying into Austria just to eat here - it's *that* good!
