Finish!!!

This was a great moment - as we'd realised not only had we finished the
toughest Southern Ocean race in the world, but we finished it safe, all
intact and... were on the podium! Fantastic!

Coming in was a bit tricky - there was nothing to see! |

Putting the fenders out... somewhere! |

View from the mast head down |

A quick briefing before it got mad! |

Came in to find our team song playing at a million watts and many many
cheers. Also seeing only 2 boats parked was wonderful

The atmosphere was absolutely euphoric! |

To find my parents waiting for me on the dock added to the occasion |

What an atmosphere - ecstatic, high, intoxicated, jubilant, overjoyed,
elated delirious... I can't think of enough words to describe it! |
This was the single most amazing moment of my life - the most incredible
high, a feeling of achieving something so extraordinary and special.
Very, very happy!! :) |

This was a moment I shall remember in detail for a very long time :) |

So, they chucked food, beer and Champagne on the boat. In the food
bucket was steak burgers, chips, orange juice, FRUIT... FRESH FRUIT! My
God - did that apple taste sooooooo good!! :)

Getting off the boat was strange. 6 weeks since I'd touched land |

With a proud Mum & Dad!

The rest of the pictures are really as one would expect......

Well daylight came and that can only mean... breakfast. And what better
place than a 5* hotel (when you're covered in beer and haven't washed
for a long time) :)

We encountered seals on the way. Paula tried talking to one, but it
nearly ate her. Sobering up slightly, we moved away :) |

The hotel was great... at letting us in. Dunno why they did though :) |

I do believe I was completely and utterly battered at this point and
coupled with being on a boat for so long I found standing and walking
quite a problem! |
Flash (being fairly sober) took us all to our rooms. This was fortunate
as most of us hadn't a clue and were only knew where the boats and bar
was!! |

The apartments Vale had booked for us were quite something.

VERY luxurious :) |

So after having a few hours sleep it was time to go back to the
boats to welcome the others in... and some more drinking :) |

Supporters boat going out |

Pindar coming in |

SAIC coming in
Next day and
there was work to be done...
BG coming in |

... so more reason to drink again! |

Clive shaved his beard off and looked quite respectable :) |

Downstairs was all a bit quiet

Seemed a bit eery from this place is normally like |

First job is to remove the mainsail |

.. and fold it on the pontoon |

Sarah got a bit stuck!

Damaged spinnaker came out and went to the repairers first... it was
"quite bad" |

Tim sniggered a bit when looking at it - only to prompt a "its NOT
funny" shout from the sail repair lady!

Did I mention lots of chocolate left over? |

Barclays comes in |

The Challenge offices |

Team brief |

Each of the sails has to be carefully checked for damage. |

Repacking is a bit trickier on land! |

All personal contents (curver boxes) are removed whilst the boat is
cleaned. |

There were some very nice other boats in the harbour

All sails out! I've never seen the forepeak (sorry, Zero-G lounge) look
like this! |

Winch maintenance |

Samsung arrives... |

... more beer! :) |

Boat was looking a right mess though! |

With more yachts the harbour was looking more and more impressive |
Bloody seals everywhere. No-one said if they were dangerous, but they
certainly sounded like they could be! |
